Spirit

Jason on Spirit

Spirit came to Susan as an unbroken three year old with a kind eye. 7/8 Thoroughbred and 1/8 Percheron, Spirit was always mindful of his riders and a patient teacher.

One of Susan's working students on Spirit.

Paint
Paint and Susan
At nine, he became Susan's mother’s trail horse, occasionally returning to competitive riding with Susan’s daughter Harty. In his old age his experience, smooth gait, and dependability made him ideal for beginners.

Paint came from Oklahoma in the late 1980’s as a four-year old Pinto who didn’t like the race track. He found his niche as an eventing horse who stole the show with blue ribbons for four years until he developed mild arthritis at eight years old.

Susan & Miles

Miles, was our rebellious Thoroughbred, he left a trail of thrown riders throughout his early years. He refused to submit to traditional, dominant horsemanship and came to Susan as a 4 year old with a distrust for riders.

For years Susan struggled with this spirited horse, who led her to Centered Riding and ultimately a successful relationship with him. Her biggest challenge, Miles brought her a whole new understanding of the union between horse and rider.
