Clinic Information

Thank you from a participant at the
Riders Awareness Clinic
June 11, 12

Dear Susan,

Thank you for allowing Emma and I to participate in your clinic. We had such a good time! I would love to do it again. I am so glad to hear about your success with Tess and the other riders. I noticed that Sharon was very impressed at how well her shoulders and upper back loosened up when on the small noodle. I would be delighted to share my thoughts for the newsletter. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to share, however. Here's a draft of my experience. I hope it's helpful.

"My experience at Susan Kelley's Centered Rider's Awareness Clinic was stupendous. Never in all my life have I had such pleasure riding a horse! The hands on preliminary body work session which incorporated gyrotonics and pilates to loosen up the spine, hips, pelvis, shoulders, legs and to engage the core musculature for optimum spine stabilization and neuro-connectedness between horse and rider, set the stage for optimum performance in the ring. Once mounted on my horse, I applied the basic principles of Centered Riding using Soft Eyes to enhance my peripheral awareness and feel for my surroundings, Breathing, in a rhythmical cadence that supported my posture and communicated my intent to the horse to make subtle changes in stride propulsion and gait transitions, Balance, while maintaining alignment for improved ease of movement and harmony with the horse, and Grounding, a sensation of stability that was unfaltering as I rode around the ring. My body was supple having first released restrictions before being astride the horse. The stiffness and resistance that I'm so accustomed to was absent and my body, mind and spirit were fully engaged in the fluidity of motion with the horse. The precision of communication was astonishing. I didn't have to think.....I simply had to be. My noble steed and I were one."
